A biography of Clifford Smith of Mott's Lane, Marks Tey. He was born in the village and attended Marks Tey school. He had vast general knowledge and an interest in aircraft, logging German flights over Marks Tey during WW2. He was first employed by Colchester Borough Council, was conscripted into the RAF, then followed a career in local government. He married Valerie Grimwood in 1959.
