A Marks Tey couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary yesterday. They are Mr and Mrs Arthur Thompson, of 57 Wilson's Lane, who were married at Birch church by the Rev P. Luard.

Mr Thompson, a keen garderner, worked for 57 years as a nurseryman, first at Dobbie's nursery, Marks Tey, and then at the By-pass Nurseries. During the first world war Mr Thompson served in France for two years. He is member of the British Legion.

Mr Thompson is 85 and his wife, Louise, 86. They have eight children, 14 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
