A notice of a fine issued to George Potter for drawing more than three wagons behind a traction engine.

Transcript

More than three wagons behind a traction engine - At Lexden and Winstree sessions George Potter, an engine driver, of Marks Tey, was summoned for drawing more than three wagons behind a locomotive at Stanway. Defendant was represented by Mr Asher Prior. Police-sergt. Rolph said defendant was driving a locomotive belonging to Mr. W. H. Collier, behind which were four trucks, two of which were laden. Defendant admitted to witness that he knew he ought not to have more than three trucks, and said it was not his fault. The Bench imposed a fine of £1 and 4s costs.
