Marks Tey, St. Andrew

Nave roof of seven cants, chancel roof also of seven cants. and with an interesting wall plate, possibly of the 14th century. It can be seen at the eaves that the sole pieces tenon into the rafters' feet. The west tower suffered damage during the siege of Colchester in 1648 (L.G.B.) and had is upper part replaced er descrime tope 2, and is vertically clad with boards. The south porch is a very interesting one, of rather late date, which is illustrated in Fig. 52, and further discussed on p. 61.
