Description
An account of the case of Agnes Deeks (nee Porley) of Station Road, Marks Tey, who drowned her illegitimate son, Charlie aged three and a half, in the river in Colchester in August 1891. Newspaper reports from the time have been transcribed. Agnes was acquitted of the murder on the grounds of insanity and on 31 March 1892 was transferred from Chelmsford Prison to Broadmoor Lunatic Asylum.
