Description

Joseph Porter came to Marks Tey and was living at Bridge Farm by 1922. His son Richard (Dick) purchased The Villa on London Road in 1931. They were horse and cattle dealers.

In 1924 Claude Porter, aged 15, was accidentally killed on the road to Aldham. He was riding a horse pulling a tumbrill but met an oncoming van.

In 1931 John Porter killed a motor cyclist by Hythe station when returning from Thorpe Market with a bullock on a trailer which overturned.

Dick Porter trained racehorses and moved to Church Farm in 1963. In 1979 he sold 9 acres of land where the Parish Hall now stands.
