The last example, that at Marks Tey dated from local records to 1648, is in contrast a purpose-built belfry structure recalling the saltire-braced framing of the oldest examples. The framing of its spire, shown separately, is very good but is not re-thought, being closely similar to some ancient examples. The four-centred sound vent heads look Elizabethan rather than mid-17 century.
